Lois Garrity passed on Monday, March 20, 2017.
She was born in Wallace, Idaho on October 12, 1938 to Marjorie Sayre and Lawrence Garrity.
She spent her young adult life in Washington State before enlisting in the Air Force in 1962. While in the Air Force, she married Alfred Williams I, and started a family, receiving an Honorable Discharge in 1965.
She was passionate about everything she did in life often placing the needs of others before her own. She spent many years in the labor movement educating co-workers on the strength of organized labor and assisting others when necessary.
Lois enjoyed the outdoors, music and the arts, encouraging her sons to get outside often. Family was the most important to her. As we grew up, she placed the needs of her sons ahead of her own. Independence is a requirement of a single parent and a trait she passed to her sons. She was very religious and proud of her belief in God, teaching her sons forgiveness first. There were always pets in our life with a passion for dogs. Scooter already misses her.
She is survived by her two sons; Alfred Williams II, married to Lyn Williams and Charles Williams, married to Doan-Phuc Williams as well as two grandsons, Matthew (5) and Ethan (3).
The family will receive visitors Saturday, March 25, 2017 from 1:00-3:00 p.m. at Baker-Post Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 10001 Nokesville Road, Manassas, Virginia. A memorial service will take place at 3:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Jim Johnson officiating.
Interment will be at Quantico National Cemetery at a later date.
