Clarence Nelson  Meese, Jr.
Clarence Nelson Meese, Jr, 69, entered his Heavenly home, Sunday, June 5, 2016, at Novant Hospital in Manassas.
He had been married to his high school sweetheart, best friend and soulmate, Darlene (Bane) Meese, for 48 years.
He is also survived by daughter, Nicole Meese MacCorkle and husband Matthew, and a granddaughter Chloe Nicole MacCorkle of Woodbridge, VA.
He was a graduate of Keyser High School and West Virginia Institute of Technology.
Clarence retired from the US Army, after 40 years, in December 2011. Throughout his career, working as a Civilian Engineer, he was fortunate enough to work as a Quality & Reliability Engineer in Research & Development; Product Assurance & Test Engineering Manager helping in the development of some of the Army’s greatest defense systems, the Patriot Missile: Abrams Tank; & Solider Warrior. He ended his career working as Logistics and Test Engineering Manager, Soldier Warrior, Ft. Belvoir, VA. He deployed to Iraq in 2007 while Logistics & Test Engineering Manager for Soldier Warrior.
Upon retirement, he began his second career as Regional Operations Officer for Department of the Army Military Auxiliary Radio System, (MARS), organizing all of the communications assets for MARS through 5 states that make up Region 3, (VA, WV, DE, MD & DC, PA). With MARS, he was known as AAA3R3 and AAR3FE.
An avid Ham Radio enthusiast, he was Vice President of the Ole Virginia Hams(K4CNM) and was a member of Woodbridge Wireless (K4CNM), where he ran Broad Band Ham Net.
He was also OMISS 75m SSB Early Net Control Coordinator.
He recently achieved his Master’s Degree in The 3905 Century Club, Inc., an international amateur radio club (No. 70).
He was a member of Manassas St. Thomas UMC and a lifetime member of the NRA.
His most important job after retirement was being “Paw” to the light of his life, Chloe, his five year old granddaughter.
The family will receive friends Friday, June 17th, 2016 from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at Prince of Peace United Methodist Church, 6299 Token Forest Dr., Manassas, VA 20112. Funeral services will immediately follow at 12:00 p.m. in the church sanctuary.
Interment will follow in Stonewall Memory Gardens, Manassas, VA.
